Sri Lanka has been invited for the fifth ODI against South Africa. Spinner Akila Dananjaya has returned to Sri Lanka’s squad for the five ODIs in South Africa after having his action cleared by the ICC.
Dinesh Chandimal, who also had been dropped for Test series continued to be excluded from the team for the ODIs.
Dananjaya was the most consistent bowler in Sri Lanka’s ODI ranks over the past year and had begun to have success in the Test format as well when he was reported. Sri Lanka’s spin attack is expected to pose a Test to the South African batsmen, with the likes of Kamindu Mendis and Lakshan Sandakan named in the squad. If Dananjaya gets his clearance in time, he will form the core of that attack.
