MP Bandula Gunawardena says that the bid to award the contract to the Chinese company is a brilliant tender deal in the history of Sri Lanka for the proposed LNG for Kerawalapitiya.
He made a statement at a press conference held in Colombo today (19th).
“Sri Lanka has been in a difficult situation due to the tender scam (the LNG plant) and the only tender offered by Lakdanavi is a Chinese company that is going to pay a higher price for the company for over 20 years.
“We allow state companies to set up two 300 MWs of fired power plants. Without a cabinet decision, a power station cannot be created without calling for tenders.”
“This is the most feared tender deal in Lankan history. The lowest bidder will be given the power plant. The one who gave the older ones is not allowed.”
“There has not been a tender in this manner in the history of Sri Lanka. Through this, the Organization for Protection of the Consumer of Rights filed legal action against the country. Ravi Karunanayke has resigned from the post following the appointment of the Minister. This is necessarily a corrupt, transparent transaction. Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakse and Dinesh Gunawardena informed the President that the cabinet paper regarding the tender should be removed. “
