Lahiru Kumara and Dushmantha Chameera, Sri Lankan fast bowling duo, who currently engaged with Australian tour will be returned to Sri Lanka due to the injuries (respectively a hamstring and ankle injuries) which they came across during the first test match of the tour.
Dushmantha Chameera is the 3rd fast bowler, who will be returned to SL due to an injury before moving up even to the 2nd match of the tour. These continuous injury scenarios, especially with SL fast bowlers really show up, how deep is the questionable level of the fitness of SL cricketers.
Especially with the biggest event of the year, ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is just couple of months away; SLC should be more proactive and settle with a better solution for this non-stopping injury problems.
SLC picked up Chamika Karunarathna as the replacement of Chameera and he’ll be joined with the team in Australia asap, however, his partaking for the 2nd test is still not confirmed. Chamika, a 22 years old young cricketer who debut in FC cricket in 2015 and performed fantastically in the recently ended ACC emerging teams cup and Ireland A tour.
Plus, he is the younger brother of SL badminton duo Niluka and Dinuka Karunarathna. Second test is match between the 2 teams will be begun on Friday (01st of Feb) at 5am (local time) in Canberra.
Hopefully, SL team will reunite and show much improved performance and will not embarrass themselves and us, local die hard SL cricket fans.
