Consumers should use electricity cautiously and help save electricity said Power, Energy and Business Development Minister Ravi Karunanayake today (12th)
The minister said due to prevailing weather conditions there have been high demand of electricity and assured there won’t be any power cuts for now.
‘If 6.5 million electricity users can switch of two bulbs a day, we can save about 100 megawatts daily’ said the minister. Though the water levels are low in reservoirs there won’t be any need to purchase any additional electricity or increase electricity tariffs said the minister.
There are not any plan establish by the government to meet the country’s electricity requirement during the past ten years.
