Ceylon Teachers Union General Secretary Joseph Stalin said that the 24 hour countrywide strike was a massive success.
With the participation of 241,000 teachers and 15,000 Principals participating from more than 10,162 schools countrywide for the strike today. All teachers and principals were on sick leave.
CTUs main demand being increase of salaries for both teachers and principals and to release teachers from paperwork. They also demanded 6% of the GDP be allotted to education.
